Brittany Spaniel Puppy

If you are looking for a high quality Brittany Spaniel Puppy with genuine hunting abilities and amicable temperament, you must be patient when choosing a trustworthy and conscientious breeder. Good Brittany Spaniel breeders do not work for profit, as they do not view breeding as a source of income. There are lots of profit-oriented breeders who trade in low quality flow-production dogs and show little concern about their dogs’ further lives.

Brittany Spaniels are smaller than other gun dogs. They have slightly feathered coats, small hanging ears and stocky yet graceful body build. These dogs come in the following colors: Liver and White, Black and White, Orange and White, Black Tricolor, and Liver Tri-color (The American Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club do not recognize Black color). The eye color depends on the coat color, ranging from brown to hazel (the darker the coat, the darker the eyes). The nose is usually dark, but not black. The tail is either docked (about 4 inches long) or naturally short. However, many breeders prefer not to have their Brittany Spaniel Puppies’ tails docked.

Brittany Spaniels are naturally vivacious and laborious. They never seem to miss a chance to please their loved ones by carrying out tasks assigned to them. They are very active and energetic, and have zero tolerance of boredom or loneliness. Bored Brittanies can be pretty much of a nuisance, and some dogs take it out on household items. The Brittany spaniel is no great companion for those who stay at home all day long or, vice versa, leave early in the morning to come back late at night. The Brittany thrives on interaction and daily rigorous physical exercise. At least a medium-sized yard is an absolute must for a Brittany Spaniel Puppy to receive a positive charge for the rest of his life.

The Brittany Spaniel is believed to have descended from some Setter lines and an unknown French dog. The breed was developed in the Brittany province, France, and the first show with the participation of a Brittany Spaniel took place in 1896. The dog proved to be an excellent bird hunter, with enviable stamina and tremendous endurance, which enabled him to perform equally well in various types of terrain. The Brittany Spaniel of today is a very popular hunting dog with a strong and healthy genetic potential. If you would like to have a Brittany Spaniel Puppy in possession, you must be ready to spend a lot of time keeping your dog busy in order for your dog to live up to requirements stated in the breed standard.
